About Sam

About

Hello. My name is Sam Garrity (she/they). I grew up in Central MA, USA, and have lived on the North Shore, MA and in Loughborough, UK.

My experience and expertise lies in multiple fields: sport psychology, writing centers, higher education, and human biology. Combined, I have a unique skill set where I help individuals plan, develop, and implement strategies strengthening their academic, athletic, and personal growth.

During my time not only as a competitive athlete during my schooling but while completing my undergraduate degree and working, I found there is a niche need for this type of individualized support. Being an academic and athletic support specialist, I can pivot with clients between assisting them in their academics but also in their sporting careers. It’s a cyclical cycle between a person’s physical and psychological well-being and their academic and athletic performance(s): influencing one another. And I have the knowledge, expertise, and experience to support clients with all aspects of this cycle.

While not working, I enjoy hiking, water-skiing, swimming, travelling, and reading. I also adopt senior and special needs dogs and they tend to join me on my adventures. My own sport background includes: slalom skiing, kneeboarding, trick skiing, soccer, lacrosse, ice hockey, swimming (open water and long-distance), tennis, and hurling.
